Ella Too and to spit?

Ella has started to Too everything...If Lilly wants to potty Ella wants to potty, If Lilly wants to eat, Ella wants to eat..etc etc etc. The best part is she sais it like potty tooooooo--in this cute, long, purse your lips way. I love it..its one of those things you forget or miss as they get older.
Also, in oddly she has started to spit. I mean like red letter..win a medal, launch it across the room and whoever she is deciding to spit at. The kind of spit that wins you contests at the fair if you practice hard enough. Where did she get this? She is with me all day..or her dad..maybe even her Nana..none of us spit. Where did she pick this up..not only is she spitting, but she is good at it..better than I am if I were spit-I never mastered spitting even when I occasionally have to for whatever reason. Its interesting to see what they learn all on there own and become odd, unfavorable habits.

Ella Wears Granny Panties

Ella started potty training and so I just have a drawer with a bunch of panties in it. Some are obviously more for her size, but I am not picky when I am just trying to get them dressed so the other day she was undressing for bath and her dad turns to me and sais.."nice granny panties Ella"--the were clearly a pair of Lillys underwear that were giant and white and saggy..but it sure did make me laugh--so I put a similar pair on her today b/c I just wanted a giggle whenever she went potty :)

Lilly Pretends-Then Corrects

Lilly has been pretending alot lately...mostly that she is a dog. She is therefore teaching her sister to pretend to be a dog. I would prefer little girls, but I am living with it.
Even more recently she has been giving people different characters..Ella is mom, her baby, I am Nanna ect. Recently she called my mom-mom and of course it rubbed me the wrong way b/c Ella copied her. I don't need that confusion going on as it just can't help but hurt my feelings even in pretend. So I told her a little while later after she called me Nanna that I am mom and she needs to call me mom as to not confuse her sister and that I know she is pretending, but I don't think she should pretend like that.
Clearly she understand that my feelings were hurt b/c she is highly empathetic b/c she turned to me and said..no I called you "nana..Like what monkeys eat". I know this isn't true, but the fact that she corrected herself in such a way that made logically sense phonetically and so quickly makes me just want to squeeze her. Every age is hard, but they all seem to give you a reason to keep having kids too :).

Lilly is polite

The other day Lilly had some friends over and everyone was playing outside..she ran inside for a minute and then proceeded to tell me as she was leaving that she came inside to fart so nobody would hear her. Of course she also announced it to her friends as well..so I am not sure the good it did..but I suppose when it comes to the only real problem with a fart is what she left behind.

Slap Happy

I have often used the term 'slap happy'..usually in a "I'm too so therefore I laugh hysterically at ridiculous stuff" Toda I realized Slap happy can really just mean that..as I watched my two girls slap eachother over and over laughing a 'wet your pants' laugh. I was slightly torn..should they be slapping each other? No..but apparently they weren't doing it hard..as it was considered delightfully funny. In these instances..as long as everyones laughing..I am the mom that sais "slap on...slap on".

White Bear and Wags

When Tom was a little boy he had a Polar Bear that he called Wags..b/c he felt bad that he had no tail. This was by far his favorite bear. When he grew up and had a daughter his parents gave him Wags. Lilly is pretty fond of Wags and generally calls him Wagon, apprently the original name was somewhat lost in translation. I also had a white bear that was by far my favorite bear. I never gave my bear a name b/c I was never good about coming up with an original name and sticking with it (this explains alot). Recently our second daughter has taken to carrying MY white bear around and for some reason this just makes me absolutly wonderful. The fact that our girls have fallen so madly in love with the bears of our youth ovefer all the new fangled ones just puts a smile on my face. Now if Lucy gravitates towards MY mothers white bear..we may have a story on our hands :).

Gypsies

Lilly sat at dinner tonight and she just said 'gypsies'. I said 'gypsies?' She said that "yes, she was going to sell us to gypsies if we put her in no fun..another bit of parent words passed to kids. :)
